Online High Street is committed to protecting your privacy and this statement sets out our policy on how we will and will not use any personal information you supply us with.
Information Collection
By entering your personal information in the Online High Street website,
you accept that we may retain your information and it may be held by Online
High Street or by any third party company which processes it on our behalf.
When you shop with Online High Street, we ask for information such as
your name, email address, delivery address, contact details and, if you place
an order, your credit card details. We retain this information so that we can
recognise you as a registered customer and fulfil the orders you place with us.
We keep a record of your purchases with us to help us deal quickly with
any problems you may experience with your order and improve our service to you.
We also keep a record of any email correspondence you send us. Telephone calls
made to our customer service helpline may be recorded for monitoring and
quality control purposes.
Use of Your Personal Information
All the information we collect via our website or through correspondence
with you is used to operate and improve the service we offer you.
We use your personal information for dealing with orders and accounts
for the supply of goods and services ordered via our website and to monitor and
improve our website and services.
We may use the information you supply us with to enable third parties to
carry out technical, logistical or other functions on our behalf.
We may conduct market research including statistical analysis of
customer behaviour which we may disclose to third parties in depersonalised,
aggregated form.
We may provide you with periodic communications (this may be by post,
telephone, SMS, email or as part of your delivery) about features, products,
services, events, promotions and special offers. Please let us know if you
would prefer not to receive these communications.
We may make enquiries about you including searching your records held by
organisations like Experian and Equifax and credit reference agencies. We may
also check your details held by the IMRG Security Alert scheme and other fraud
prevention schemes.
If you default on payments, we may disclose your relevant details to
debt collection agencies.
We may also use your personal information to prevent and detect fraud or
abuses of our website.
We may use your information to comply with any requirements imposed on
Online High Street by law or court order.
We will not share your information with anyone else to enable them to
send you direct marketing unless you agree otherwise. However, there are
circumstances where it is necessary for us to share personal information in order
for us to provide our customers with our delivery service. At all times where
we use or disclose your information, it will remain secure.
We work with third-party services to create and measure targeted ads for
Online High Street. These third parties may use cookies, web beacons and
similar technologies to collect or receive information from www.
onlinehighstreet.uk and elsewhere on the internet. Using these services allows
us to produce tailored adverts and measure their success. If you would like to
opt out of the collection and use of information for these purposes, you can do
so at aboutads.info/choices.
The only circumstances where we may share some of your information with
others is when we are required to do so by law, in order to administer your
order, to our suppliers and service providers who process data on our behalf in
the UK and abroad, inside or outside the EEA, and where required for business
succession reasons.
Cookies
A cookie is a bit of text sent to your browser by a website that you
have visited. It's used to help the website remember information about your
visit, so you don't have to re-enter the same information on different pages on
the website, or on your next visit to it. Browsing the web would very quickly
become frustrating without them!
Online High Street uses cookies for different purposes, such as
remembering which shops we can deliver from to you, your preferences about
seeing alerts and information, counting how many visitors have been to a page,
and keeping track of what goodies you've added to your basket. We also use them
to get information on how popular our products and features are, so we know
we're always concentrating our efforts where you'd most like to see it. We
never store or look at information about specific people.
Online High Street needs cookies to work - you wouldn't be able to log
in to your account or place an order without them - and so, by using
www.onlinehighstreet.uk, you are agreeing to our use of cookies.
Security
It is important for you to protect against unauthorised access to your
password and to your computer. Be sure to log out when using a shared computer.
All transaction information passed between our site and Stripe, our
secure payment provider, is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. No
cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted, and any messages sent to
your servers from Stripe are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. You
can be completely secure in the knowledge that nothing you pass to the Stripe
servers can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to
gain access to sensitive information. Stripe secures all sensitive data using
the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among
others, the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art,
tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's
Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract.
Fraud
Please be wary of fraudulent requests for your card details by email. We
will never email you asking for these as email is not secure.
