Crafted according to a time-honoured recipe, Rutland Red cheese undergoes a traditional process that includes being buttered, cloth-bound, and matured for six months. This meticulous approach results in a cheese characterized by a flaky and open-textured consistency, coupled with a subtly sweet, caramelized flavour and a rich, golden-orange hue. Notably, it stands as the sole pasteurized Red Leicester cheese originating from the county of Leicestershire and has earned a place of distinction at Long Clawson Dairy. Rutland Red has garnered a multitude of awards, including three gold medals at the Global Cheese Awards and four gold medals, along with the Tesco Red Leicester Trophy, at the International Cheese Awards.
